Narukawa Art Museum

Narukawa Art Museum, by Lake Ashi in Hakone, was opened to the public in 1988.
This private museum possesses masterpieces of nihonga, Japanese-style paintings, collected energetically by museum owner Minoru Narukawa over the course of 20 years, including 200 pieces by Kyujin Yamamoto, recipient of the Order of Cultural Merit.

Take a moment to walk out of the Panorama Lounge at the front of the museum. Enjoy the best view of Hakone from here.

The Narukawa museum overlooks Lake Ashi and has a wonderful collection of Nihonga, modern Japanese paintings with foundations in classical Japanese painting techniques of the Heian Era hundreds of years ago.
